Some praise it for its asthetic appeal, attention to detail, the story-telling angle and grass-roots approach. Commonly raised praises are that watching the show brings back childhoold memories.
Some find it short of being “scientific” and “rigorous”, comparing it to similar food-discvoery shows by BBC where the approach is more in the line of treating food as a science (not a narrative).
recommendation: excellent choice for introducing students to Chinese food culture.
